Salo lab Nanoscale Lipid Flux Architecture

Maxime completed his PhD at the Laboratoire de Physique de l’ENS (LPENS) in Paris, where he studied how defects in lipid homeostasis and membrane organization contribute to caveolin-1- and seipin-associated lipodystrophies. His work focused on how altered lipid handling at the endoplasmic reticulum can propagate through cellular membranes, affecting Golgi organization, protein trafficking, and caveolae formation.

Maxime is a joint postdoctoral researcher in the Salo and Eero Castrén laboratories at the University of Helsinki. He will investigate how membrane architecture is associated with neuronal receptor activity using advanced imaging, including cryo-ET.

Outside the lab, he enjoys swimming, collecting vinyl records, and watching basketball.
