Xiu Tian obtained her PhD from Université Paris Cité, where she studied bacterial membrane proteins involved in host–bacterial interactions and iron transport using microbiology, biochemistry, biophysics and structural biology approaches.
In the Salo Lab, she applies advanced structural biology methods to investigate how endoplasmic reticulum membrane architecture regulates lipid droplet formation and lipid homeostasis.
Outside the lab, she enjoys cooking, gardening and hiking in nature.
